During Intersolar Europe 2025 in Munich, Gonvarri Solar Steel showcased the latest evolution of its 1P solar tracker. Presented for the first time in semi-real scale, the new system highlights the company’s ongoing commitment to efficiency, reliability, and cost optimization for large-scale solar plants.
In an exclusive interview with Review Energy, Ana Díaz Rego, Business Development Manager Europe at Gonvarri Solar Steel, explained that this is the fifth iteration of the tracker, aimed primarily at optimizing LCOE.
“We are constantly improving our product. This latest version is highly cost-effective not only in terms of assembly and maintenance but also in supply chain. Its ability to adapt to terrain conditions helps us reduce both CAPEX and OPEX for our clients,” Díaz said.
A solution built for all terrains
The new 1P tracker from Solar Steel brings several technical improvements designed to address current market demands:
- Reduced installation time: Its optimized structure allows faster and easier assembly, significantly cutting grid connection times, labor costs, and speeding up project ROI.
- Wider tracking angle: With tilt capacity up to 60 degrees, it maximizes solar capture even during adverse weather conditions such as heavy rain or hail.
- Fewer components: The simplified design, with pre-assembled key elements, lowers mechanical failure risks and maintenance costs.
- Robust mechanical locking system: Ensures greater wind resistance and structural stability, enhancing overall reliability.
- SmarTSlope technology: A proprietary feature from Solar Steel that enables installation on uneven terrain without shortening rows—maximizing energy output in challenging topographies.
Growth in new European markets
During the event, Ana Díaz Rego also emphasized the company’s strong international footprint and its current focus on emerging markets across Europe.
“We’ve always been strong in Spain, Portugal, and Italy, but we’re now highly focused on the Balkans, Romania, Hungary, Croatia, Poland, and Turkey. Even in places like northern Spain, where trackers weren’t commonly used, demand is now increasing.”
Solar Steel provides both fixed-tilt structures and trackers in single-row and dual-row configurations, available in one-portrait and two-portrait setups. This flexibility allows the company to adapt to a wide range of technical requirements across global markets.
